The Untouchables

  • Genre : Crime/Drama
  • Written By : Oscar Fraley, Eliot Ness
  • Directed By : Brian De Palma
  • Release Date : June 2, 1987
  • Running Time : 119 Minutes
Starring
Kevin Costner, Sean Connery, Robert De Niro, Charles Martin Smith

Synopsis
Kevin Costner is idealistic federal agent Eliot Ness, whose assignment to clean up Prohibition-era Chicago leads to violence and manly questions about upholding the law. Initially powerless to stop the flow of booze into the city (the police force is corrupt and everyone in town seems to be on the mob's payroll), Ness finds guidance from an older streetwise cop (Sean Connery, who won an Academy Award for this role) who convinces him he'll need to break some rules if he wants to bring down head mobster Al Capone (Robert De Niro).

My Review
Brian De Palma really turned this movie into one of the most memorable and greatest gangster film ever. Kevin Costner played his part as federal agent, Eliot Ness, and he did really well I must say. You also shouldn't miss Sean Connery as he is the sole reason why the movie turned out to be great as his role helping Costner out in the movie. Sadly Robert De Niro had a so-so performance but still it was good.
As for the scenes in the movie, Brian De Palma did one hell of a job directing as he kept the gun fighting and the drama scenes at a good level. One scene right before the end with all the gun fights was my favorite in particular.
Overall it was a very exciting movie.

And Justice For All

  • Genre : Drama
  • Written By : Valerie Curtin, Barry Levinson
  • Directed By : Norman Jewison
  • Release Date : June 29, 1979
  • Running Time : 119 Minutes
Starring
Al Pacino, Jack Warden, John Forsythe, Lee Strasberg, Christine Lahti

Synopsis
Al Pacino is Arthur Kirkland, a sharp defence lawyer with a heart, who is dealing with a witch-hunting ethics tribunal, crazy and arrogant judges, an ill grandfather, a law partner (Tambor) on the verge of a nervous breakdown, and a new relationship. He definitely did not need the crazy new case that lands on his lap in the form of his least favourite judge, Henry T. Fleming. Soon, Arthur is faced with some decisions that will challenge his beliefs and affect his future.

My Review
I was deeply moved by Al Pacino's portray of Arthur Kirkland as he defends his clients through the hardships and corruption of the court.
The movie was interesting on my part, just if u are looking for a "Court Drama" movie, this is not it because this is a movie telling the immorality that could happen in court and anywhere else, it also shows how it could affect people's lives.
Well in this movie, Al Pacino had his finest acting moments and truly define acting in a way that I could say MAGNIFICENT.
You might also recognize one of Al Pacino's most memorable line, "You're out of order! This whole trial is out of order!", definitely a must watch scene.
The only downside to the movie for me was, I thought it was gonna be a "Court Drama" type movie and so I just wasn't satisfied that the movie didn't show on him getting enough evidence on his cases but all and all, it was a fantastic movie

  • Running Time : 120 Minutes
Starring
Keanu Reeves, Charlize Theron, Jason Isaacs, Greg Germann, Lauren Graham, and Michael Rosenbaum

Synopsis
Nelson (Reeves) and Sara (Theron) have nothing in common except an hour spent in DMV hell. Intrigued by each other, but not quite ready to commit, they settle on a rather unconventional courtship: a one-month trial, after which they'll go their separate ways. No expectations. No pressure. No strings attached. What neither of them counts on is falling in love.

My Review
Though the movie didn't receive much good reviews, it was still a good movie to watch.
I am no fan of Keanu Reeves but for me this was one of his finest performance I have ever seen and applause for Charlize Theron as her character was splendid.
Some of the scenes might not be direct but what do you expect from a romance movie.
It is from those scenes that we must pay attention to in capturing the moment in the film, and to me that made the movie a good watch.
Overall I enjoyed watching it mostly on Charlize Theron with her tomboyish look part.

Synopsis
In Clash of the Titans, the ultimate struggle for power pits men against kings and kings against gods. But the war between the gods themselves could destroy the world. Born of a god but raised as a man, Perseus is helpless to save his family from Hades, vengeful god of the underworld. With nothing left to lose, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus and unleash hell on earth. Leading a daring band of warriors, Perseus sets off on a perilous journey deep into forbidden worlds. Battling unholy demons and fearsome beasts, he will only survive if he can accept his power as a god, defy his fate and create his own destiny.
My Review
The movie started off well enough but as the movie goes on it was as if the story line was jumbled up in a mess.
As for the Greek Gods, Apollo only had one line, Hades wasnt evil enough in dressing and Zeus was a bit soft hearted really. Plus the other gods was not involved in the movie, only the name spoken such as Poseidon, Aphrodite and Athena. Bummer cause i would have loved to see Aphrodite.
The Fates were nicely portrayed with the eye ball the keep fussing about.
My most memorable scene in the movie would have to be the fight against Medusa as for me, Medusa looked awesome really.
As the movie came to a close, my thoughts on the movie was, forget Greek Mythology and even story line cause for reference there are many better so the only good thing I could say bout the movie was it's decent fight scene and nice effects.
And if your gonna watch Clash of the Titans, go watch the 1981 version which is better in terms of story.

Scrambling for a solution, the owner Edward O'Neil (Warden) hatches a plan to bring in legendary coach Jimmy McGinty (Hackman) to recruit a team of replacement players in exactly one week.
My Review
On a fine day the movie turned out to be quite decent even though havings stars such as Gene Hackman and Keanu Reeves.
Though the movie was simple and typical but a story of an underdog team striving for success is always good to watch.
In the movie, there was one scene particularly that i loved, it was the part where the team was sent to jail for a barfight, where they sang and danced "I will Survive"
though it might not seem like a huge scene but there the team discovered their friendship and team spirit.
Overall the movie may not be loveable but it is likeable.

Cruel Intentions

  • Genre : Romance

  • Directed By : Roger Kumble
  • Release Date : March 5, 1999
  • Running Time : 95 Minutes

Ryan Phillippe, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Reese Witherspoon, Selma Blair, Louise Fletcher, Joshua Jackson, Swoosie Kurtz, and Christine Baranski

Synopsis
Based on the novel by Choderlos de Laclos, it tells the tale of a wealthy prep school student Kathryn (Sarah Michelle Gellar) who bets with her stepbrother Sebastian (Ryan Phillipe) that he can't deflower the virginal Annette (Reese Witherspoon) before the school year begins. If he fails to accomplish this task, Kathryn gets his Jaguar Roadster; if he succeeds, he gets an evening of pleasure with Kathryn.

My Review
The movie tells us a twisted tale of Sebastian and his step sister who thrive on deception.
The cynical view of the movie was well portrayed by all the actors and thumbs up for Reese Witherspoon who plays an innocent school girl.
All the way through out the movie it shows the story mostly based on Sebastian trying to win the best with Kathryn by bedding Annette, which in the end he had fallen for and in a twist of events everything went downhill.
Because of that the movie had turned out spectacularly as I did not expect things to happen that way.
Set design, costumes and actors were splendid.

My Review
"All for one and one for All" is one of the most memorable lines ever and I have always loved it.
The three musketeers is an all time favourite and with the movie, made me love the musketeers even more.
But the movie had a few downside with the poor use of accents and not enough sword play to be a musketeer movie.
Even so it is still a decent movie.

The moment he was dumped by his girlfriend was kinda harsh but as the story develops, simply amazing.

    My Review

The movie started off fantastic, everything was going well but the way Matthew walks around the dorm going finding from one girl to the other seems ridiculous.
Comedy wise, the movie kinda cracked me up a little.
As far as for romance, i was not disappointed and im guessing you wont be as well so watch it.

    Remember The Titans

    • Genre : Drama
    • Written By : Gregory Allen Howard
    • Directed By : Boaz Yakin
    • Release Date : September 29, 2000
    • Running Time : 113 Minutes
    Starring
Denzel Washington, Scott Miles, Will Patton, and Donald Adeosun Faison

    Synopsis
While on the surface, high school football may seem like an innocent game played by the young, for the young, it is, in fact, much, much more. For millions, including many fans who are well removed from their high school years but who love to sit in those creaky bleachers every Friday night/Saturday morning, it is something akin to a religion. Director Boaz Yakin's REMEMBER THE TITANS captures the heart of high school football while tackling the sins of its fathers, chronicling the true story of the undefeated 1971 T.C. Williams team of Alexandria, Virginia, which was the first integrated high school team in the state. Denzel Washington brings his ever-powerful presence to the role of coach Herman Boone, who is brought in to oversee the transition to integration. Though Boone is eventually successful as a coach, the townspeople dissaprove of him because he replaces the popular, entrenched former coach, Bill Yoast (Will Patton). At first, coach Yoast resents being supplanted, while coach Boone is told that his promotion was just for show--to help the integration--and that he's likely to be lifted if the team loses a game. Will the coaches and players be able to overcome their adversity and make T.C. Williams a beacon for integration in sports? Those viewers who follow history already know the answer. But REMEMBER THE TITANS portrays the story and delivers the inspirational result with a passion and glory that will warm the hearts of all those dedicated high school football fans who continue to bring pride to the sport.

    My Review
Being a true story really made me loved this movie even more.
Having Denzel Washington as a lead and the way he portrayed coach Yoast was truly astonishing.
The movie displayed how whites and blacks lived in that time, and showed how living in a racist state is.
I was totally shocked with watching how bad it was in those times and even in that kind of environment, the coach managed to bring the team together even though it was tough all the way.
Going against all odds they made it to the top and into my heart.
Downside was, though being a football movie, it has little football so don't expect much field action, but don't be fooled, it is still a great movie.

    Recommendations
    • Best performance from Denzel
    • Touching and heartfelt
    • Though it might not be the best football movie, it is still spectacular
